The Magic Of Thinking Big By David J. Schwartz - Audible Notes

What

These are my personal notes on David Schwatz’s great book The Magic of Thinking Big. I really enjoyed going through this book and thus why I have taken so many notes. Ultimately I’ve ended up recommending this book to many friends. We all get stuck and I think that this book can help shift some thoughts to help open one up to looking at a situation differently ultimately letting in new ideas and opportunities. If you like these notes I highly recommend supporting David’s work and purchasing The Magic of Thinking Big on Audible.

Regularly Remind Yourself You Are Better Than You Think

Reaffirm “I am even better than I think at .”

Believe Big. The Size Of Your Success Is Determined By The Size Of Your Belief.

On thinking success “Let the master thought ‘I will succeed’ dominate your thinking process … thinking success conditions your mind to create plans that produce success.”

I think this should actually read ‘I am’ ‘successful’ or ‘succeeding’ focusing on the ‘now’ instead of future

On believing big … “Big ideas and big plans are often easier, certainly no more difficult, than small ideas and small plans.”

“As a rule, it’s the more successful people that are the most humble and ready to help … go first class when you have questions. Seeking advice from a failure is like consulting a quack on how to cure cancer.”

“How we think are the people we work with”

“Don’t let negative thinkers pull you down to their level. Let them slide by, like the water from the proverbial duck’s back. Cling to people who think progressively.”

“Do something special for your family often … get the family on your team”

“The enthusiastic salesman need never worry about enthusiastic buyers … Enthusiasm can make things 1100% better!”

Chapter 3

Chapter 3 focuses mostly on excuses and what the author calls ‘excusitis’. Realizing not to make excuses for why you can’t do something you can skip mostly over it.

“The thinking that guides your intelligence is much more important than how much intelligence you have.”

“The ability to know how to get information is more important that using the mind as a garage for facts.”

Chapter 6

~minute 22

“Each day before you begin work, devote 10 minutes to thinking how can I do a better job today?”

Chapter 8

Those who never surrender

- Doesn’t let pessimism dictate.

- Live and breath success

- Find life stimulating.

“Big men do not laugh at big ideas.”

“People who tell you it can not be done almost always are unsuccessful people, are strictly average or mediocre at best in terms of accomplishment. Develop a defense against people who tell you you can’t do it and accept negative advice only as a challenge to prove that you can do it.”

“How we think are the people we work with.”

“Often the remarks made in your direction aren’t so personal as you might at first think. They are merely a projection of the speaker's own feeling of failure and discouragement. Don’t let negative thinkers pull you down to their level. Let them slide by, like the water from the proverbial duck’s back. Cling to people who think progressively.”

“Make it a rule to seek advice from people who know. There is a lot of incorrect thinking that successful people are inaccessible. The plain truth is that they are not. As a rule, it’s the more successful people that are the most humble and ready to help. Since they are sincerely interested in their work and success, they are eager to see that the work carries on.”

“Go first class when you have questions. Seeking advice from a failure is like consulting a quack on how to cure cancer.”

“Go First Class”

Chapter 9

“People speak without a sound. How we think shows through in how we act. Attitudes are mirrors of the mind, they reflect thinking.”

“The enthusiastic salesman need never worry about enthusiastic buyers”

“Enthusiasm can make things 1100% better!”
